Welcome back to Asset-Map Product Updates.
A monthly series highlighting the latest innovations we’re releasing on our platform. I'm Lex Brooks, Director of Brand + Product Marketing, here to guide you through.
This month, we've released the ability to link legal instruments to entities, some speed of use updates including quick visual data entry in Sidebar and the option to clone legal documents, and we've adjusted the avatars so you can now choose gender-specific or gender-neutral. Stay tuned at the very end for a sneak peek at "Presentation Mode" too.
Let's dive in.
First up, legal instruments can now create a linked entity in the platform, extending the breadth and depth of planning conversations advisors can have with their clients. We have two use cases to demonstrate the benefits of this update.
Starting here, you can see we have John's will in the Legal tab of the Sidebar - and an opportunity to check this box noting "Eligibility for Beneficiary Designation". By checking the box, it allows for the will to be designated as a beneficiary of financial instruments. This deepens the Beneficiary discussion with your client with the ability to model instruments that go directly to heirs as well as those that pass through a legal instrument first, such as a will or testamentary trust.
The second use case of linking legal to entities is being able to include legal instruments on Relationship Maps. For example, you can show legal instruments that are part of the household like the ILIT entity here and how it connects the grantor, trustees, family beneficiaries and professionals involved. Or you can show a standard legal document such as John's health care directive tied back to the legal instrument and all its details. Both can be valuable to clients to help them understand how the people they care about (shown through a series of Relationship Maps) connect to legal documents.
Next up, let's take a look at two ways we've improved the speed of data entry across the platform.
Beginning in the Sidebar area, we've updated the "add" functionality for new instruments, delineating with a subtle color shade the information that is vital to enter to create the instrument, versus all of the value-add data which you can return to at your convenience - so you can go as deep or not based on how your conversations are flowing. We've also made it much easier to add a series of new instruments, to keep the discussion moving.
The other update to increase speed is adding the ability to clone Legal instruments, making it quicker to capture multiple powers of attorney, and other documents that a client may have multiple of. Simply navigate to the bottom of the Sidebar or window modal and click the duplicate icon.
Quick tip here: the cloning functionality is actually one of our most powerful features across all of our maps from the Report, Stencils, Relationships and Target-Maps - making sure you can always work as efficiently as possible to show different options.
Moving on to avatars, you've got used to our new look and feel for members and entities across the platform with refreshed colors and icons, and we're continuing to roll out more options based on your feedback. We've made the ability to set your avatar display preference to either gender-specific or gender-neutral across all households - simply click into user preferences, scroll down, and adjust your selection. The main difference is that when using the gender-neutral option, the avatars that are usually reserved for "not specified" genders will be used at all times.
And finally, we have another exciting sneak peek for you! Our development team has been hard at work to deliver an update you've all been clamoring for -- Presentation Mode! Yes, you'll be able to set the Asset-Map experience into a presentation mode that means your clients won't accidentally see your other clients, and you can keep them focused on the maps that matter most. We've even snuck in a privacy veil, so that you'll be able to keep the map and data under wraps until you're ready to jump into to the details at the right moment in your meeting. Lots of helpful tips and tricks on using this new feature will be coming your way next month.
