Product Spotlight: Target-Map Cash Flow Details

By Don Tinney, Product Manager

Excerpt from our Founder: I have to admit it, I was wrong.  Although I fought against this particular request from our power user base (to include future value views of our needs-based funding calculators for years), I concede my point by sharing that we have listened to our Advisors and delivered an innovation that really makes Asset-Map Pro unstoppable.  I will also admit, having tested it in the field personally, the response from real humans has been “thank you, this is an awesome complement to Asset-Map.” So I wanted to share the excitement and thank those of you for your patience. It’s Round One and there is more to come…

Enjoy Cash Flow Details and thank you for your partnership.

We’ve got great news for our dedicated community of Asset-Map®️ Advisors.  Today, the Platform is powering up with the release of Cash Flow Details for Target-Map®️ funding calculators.

Cash Flow Details make it easier than ever for you to have confidence in the conversations with your clients when projecting funding towards future spending goals.

Target-Maps have always allowed you to define your client’s goals and assist in tracking progress toward those goals with present values. But Cash Flow Details takes it a step further by introducing an interactive view of future values for planned spending alongside the funding sources available to meet those needs and the long-term impact to invested capital.

Frankly, it’s been the number one request over the years from our power users at Asset-Map, and we are really proud to deliver it to our community.

Let’s take a look.

The Benefits of Cash Flow Details in Asset-Map

Cash Flow Details are available for all Asset-Map Professional users and can be applied to each Target-Map Template (retirement, education, loss of life, long-term disability and LTC, plus custom models).  You should also know, they are backward compatible with every funding model ever done in the past using Target-Maps.

The report displays a yearly look at inflows and outflows within any Target-Map scenario, and identifies any year where they may be a shortfall in required capital.

You’ll be able to see a list of cash flow sources—typically pensions, income, government benefits, and any other source you’re tracking—and identify how those sources contribute to long-term spending scenarios.

If you’re a detail-oriented person, you can see each source individually. If you’d rather get a big-picture view, you can see that too. Each view is easy to expand or collapse with a single click.

Of course, spending habits are as much a part of financial success as the amount of income available, so Cash Flow Details also brings that data into your at-a-glance view.

By incorporating inflation adjustments, you can show households how their planned spending may look in the future. Accordingly, you can also pinpoint a specific period in which a household may consume their invested capital and run into debt based on their spending assumptions.

And there’s one final detail we want you to know about Cash Flow Details. Now, you can quickly and easily customize all the information on the “What You Want” and “What You Have” tabs, directly from the headers in the Cash Flow Details view.

Once you’re done, you can print your data from the Reports page for those clients who want the full pen-and-paper markup experience.

Now that you know what this new feature does, we’ll cover where to find it in the next section.

Where to Find it:
